What is a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ)?

An FTZ is a designated location in the United States where imported goods can be stored, assembled, or manufactured without being subject to U.S. customs duties until they leave the zone for domestic consumption.

Benefits include duty deferral or elimination, streamlined customs procedures, and cost savings on re-exports and inventory control.
